Widemouth Bay

The ultimate family friendly beach AND a surfers paradise. Widemouth has it all. The long stretch of golden sand and huge rock pools at low tide are ideal for keeping little ones busy. Half of the beach is dog friendly all year long and there are two fab beach cafes, it really is a spot for the whole family. The waves at Widemouth are perfect for learning on too and there are two surf schools to get you started!

Trebarwith Strand

Trebarwith is beautiful but there is no beach at high tide so make sure you get your timings right! While away a whole day with surf lessons and a bite to eat at The Port William on the cliffs above. Close to historic Tintagel, there’s a gorgeous circular walk along the South West Coast Path to take in the lore and legend.

Bossiney Cove

Definitely not pushchair friendly, Bossiney Cove is harder to get to than our other recommendations but all the more beautiful and unspoilt for it. Another that only has beach at low tide, time your visit carefully, take plenty of supplies and enjoy the relative peace and quiet!  The direct steps to Bossiney are closed so access is across fields from Benoath and down some steep steps.

Summerleaze and Crooklets

Joined at low tide and connected by the South West Coast Path at high tide, Bude’s beaches are unmissable. The gorgeous sea pool is perfect if you fancy a dip but are a little wave wary. For the fearless, hire surfboards in town or treat yourself to a lesson from the Big Blue Surf School. The best bit about these two is their proximity to Bude centre, there are loads of places to grab a bite to eat.

Hawkers Cove, Padstow

Further than our other recommendations but worth it to visit this dog friendly picture perfect white sand beach on the Camel Estuary. It’s a few minutes’ walk from the car park and has no facilities so it remains relatively quiet despite its beauty. Close to Padstow so worth combining with a trip there. It’s on the estuary so shallow water and no waves!
